3 Nephi 11
- Jesus was first introduced by his father
- Jesus introduced himself
- “I am the light and life of the world…”
- “I have drunk out of the bitter cup which the Father has given me…”
- “I… have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world…”
- We also glorify the Father when we do what he asks of us.
- “…taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.”
- Jesus invites each person in the crowd to physically come forth and inspect His wounds, so they know that He is the God of Israel and Savior of the world.
- “See with their eyes”
- “Feel with their hands”
- “Know of surety”
- “Beat record” or be a witness of Jesus Christ; the one the prophets testified would come
- “And when they had all gone forth and had witnessed for themselves…”
- They each had to accept and act on the invitation
- They each “witnessed” for themselves; experienced Jesus Christ
- Then they were able to witness of Him
- Jesus gave authority to baptize and then taught the proper way to do it. Apparently, there had been arguments over how to baptize.
- those that contend or cause contention are of the devil.
- Repent and believe in Jesus.
- Believe in Jesus and be baptized.
- The Father, Christ, and Holy Ghost are one.
- Repent, be baptized, and become as a little child; and inherit the kingdom of God
3 Nephi 12
- “I will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost.”
- Blessed if believe and are baptizing after seeing Jesus. More blessed are those that believe without seeing Christ.
- Blessed are the poor in spirit that come unto Christ.
- Blessed are those that morn.
- Blessed are the meek.
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness.
- Blessed are the merciful.
- Blessed are the pure in heart.
- Blessed are the peacemakers.
- Blessed are those that are persecuted for Christ’s sake.
- Blessed are they who endure evil for Christ’s sake.
- Be the salt of the earth.
- Be the light of this people.
- Let your light so shine before this people.
- Come unto Christ with a broken heart and contrite spirit.
- Keep the commandments of Christ.
- Don’t show contempt towards your brother.
- Reconcile with your brother.
- Don’t commit adultery, including in your heart.
- Don’t lust.
3 Nephi 13
- Help the poor; food, money, or whatever they need.
- Do your alms in secret so you can be rewarded by Heavenly Father. If you help the poor “before men to be seen of them”, you receive nothing from Heavenly Father.
- I believe this touches on what our motivation is; are we helping out of love or to show off to others?
- Pray to the Father in secret.
- Pray sincerely for the things you need.
- It appears we need to have the conversation even though the Father knows what we need.
- Prayer example:
- Address Heavenly Father
- Praise Him
- Be humble and submit to His will
- ask for forgiveness understanding that it comes as we forgive others
- Ask for help to avoid temptation
- Ask for deliverance from the power of the adversary
- Recognize that this existence is His
- Recognize that the power to do these things is His
- Give the glory to Him
- Forgive people or the Father won’t forgive you.
- Fast, but don’t let people know that you are; fast in secret.
- Don’t “lay… up for yourselves treasures upon the earth…”
- It seems when we do things to be seen of men, we lay up a treasure on earth. So, let’s do things to glory God and lay up a treasure in heaven.
- “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…”
- Make “your eye be single to the glory of God”
- How do you know your eye is single? Your “whole body shall be full of light.”
- Remember these words and minister unto others.
- Don’t worry about your life, what to eat, what to drink, what to wear.
- Are you better than the birds in the sky that the Lord feeds and they don’t sow or reap?!
- What does this mean for me and my family financially?
- Does this mean I shouldn’t save for retirement?
- Don’t worry about what to wear like the lilies that are clothed better than Solomon’s temple and they don’t toil nor spin.
- Have faith and God will cloth you.
- “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
- Don’t worry about what to eat, drink, or wear. The Father knows what you need.
- Don’t worry about tomorrow.
3 Nephi 14
- Don’t judge. If you do, you’ll be judged the same way.
- Focus on your own issues before looking to others; you’ll likely never have time to judge them.
- Don’t share holy things with those that will mock them.
- Ask, Seek, Knock… Receive, Find, Opened
- Do unto others as you would want them to do to you.
- “Enter in the strait gate…” baptism.
- “Beware of false prophets”
- Look to their fruits. Good trees always bring forth good fruit.
- It he that does the will of the Father that enters the kingdom of God, not the one that just talks about it.
3 Nephi 15
- “…whoso remembereth these sayings of mine and doeth them, him will I raise up at the last day.’
- Look unto Jesus continually and receive eternal life at the end of your life.
- Keep the commandments.
3 Nephi 16
- Write the teachings of Jesus.
- Ask the Father to gain a knowledge of the disciples in the Americas and the Lost Tribes.
3 Nephi 17
- Jesus said:
- Go ponder on the things he’s said
- Ask the Father for understanding

- Jesus could see the the people had enough faith that he could heal them, so he performed those miracles.

- Jesus prayed to the Father
- “The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father;”
- “no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.”
- Jesus wept among them.
- Jesus wept a second time.
- Angles administered to the children: “they were encircled about with fire;”
